About Teen Works
Teen works was a fun binder with lots of information for teens from the late 1980's and early 1990's. The first binder that came out was by Ruth Lerner Perle and Field Publications. It also had the Especially for Girls logo on it. The second binder said Newfield Publications, Inc. and Graymont Enterprises, Inc and was also by Ruth Lerner Perle. There was also a paper newsletter called "Teen Scene". Also, there was a book club associated with the "Especially for Girls" logo shown on the first binder that sent books as well. We are still updating the site. It contains lots of information about the Teen Works binder and books. We were searching the web for some information and couldn't find any, so we just started our own. Click the tabs in the menu to see each section of cards the binders contained.
Monthly subscription
Teen works was also a monthly subscription. The order form/certificate states:
"(Enrollment limited to one per family) Send no money. Mail this Certificate today. Please send 12 Free TeenCards, Free Binder with index Dividers and a Free issue of Teen Scene Newsletter. Also send me and examination set of TeenCards strictly on approval. If, after 14 days' examination, I decide I don't like TeenCards, I will return the examination set and owe nothing. But if I decide to keep that set of TeenCards, I will pay just $4.99 plus shipping and handling and will receive 2 new sets of TeenCards - always on approval - about once a month at the low $4.99 per set price, plus delivery. * With each shipment I also receive a new issue of Teen Scene Newsletter - FREE! I may cancel my membership anytime after accepting just 3 additional shipments or 2 sets of TeenCards each. Whatever I decide, the gifts are mine to keep FREE. *Sales tax will be added where applicable. All orders subject to our credit approval."
So a person who ordered this got new cards in the mail every month.

Binders
There were two styles, and three versions of the binders. The first style is older and came out around 1987. There is another version that is also in the older style and came out around 1989, but the "Especially for Girls" logo is no longer on the binder. The second style and newest one came out in 1992 and later. Click on the photos to enlarge.
First Pages/Table of Contents
Here are some different versions of the first page.

Here is an advertisement and mail in cards.
Sections
There were 12 different sections of the binder. Fashion, Boys, Friends & Family, Beauty, Skin Care & Makeup, Hair, Fitness, Money, School Days, Your Personality, Things To Do, and Parties & Food. Each section contained pages/cards on each of the subjects.
Pages/Cards
Just as the binder was released twice in two different versions, some pages were released more than once and had different versions as well. Sometimes there was only a slight color difference between versions, or they had only a few words different. Other times, there were dramatic differences with different pictures and even title name changes on cards with the same number. I have not included the cards with only brightness color variations, or that have only the copyright information printed differently. If you see a card with the wrong date/picture, it is most likely a different version and we do not have the other one yet. We have organized the pages by the copyright dates printed on the pages themselves. The cards measure 10 inches by 7 5/8 inches.
Where to Buy
I had a question from someone asking where to buy these. I am just going to answer on here. These are out of print and are no longer made. However, a lot of times you can find sellers selling these on places like eBay and Amazon. Also, another option would be to save the pictures off this site and print them out. You can either print them out full size, or like half size and get a mini version. I tried printing a half size one to test it out, and it actually came out pretty good and was readable. If you buy these off eBay or Amazon, a single full binder will usually be around $30. If they have 2 full binders, it can be about $60. The price usually depends on how many cards they have in them. I am estimating about $8-10 for every 50 cards included. It also depends on what is available to buy at the time, and how much you are willing to pay to get them. Sometimes if you wait, you can get these at a better price.
Progress Report
I haven't worked on this site for years. Currently trying to remember what I was doing with it
